Help raise $5,000 for DIY concrete park
The USA has a long tradition of some of the best DIY (Do-It-Yourself) concrete skateparks in the whole world like Burnside in Portland and FDR in Philadelphia. Now, the Skateistan NGO in Afghanistan wants to add an outdoor skate area for its students in Kabul and needs your help. The plan is to construct a DIY 350 sq meter concrete skatepark directly behind Skateistan's indoor skatepark facility. This will be the first concrete skatepark in Kabul. High fencing around the property will also allow the girls of Skateistan a rare opportunity to skate outside in privacy.

This park will be a work in progress, depending on fundraising progress and the weather. The goal is to lay the smooth concrete surface this fall and begin building obstacles immediately afterwards. Designs for the area have been provided by professional skatepark designer Wade Trevean (Australia). The outdoor park will be supervised by trained Skateistan instructors and student volunteers.
The estimated budget for Skateistan's DIY outdoor skatepark is 5000 USD, which includes materials, tools, equipment and labour for the concrete slab and the skate obstacles, as well as fencing supplies. The obstacles will be built by volunteers in Kabul who have previous experience in DIY skatepark construction.
Please share this fundraiser link to your friends online, and if you'd like to hold a real-life fundraiser (i.e. a skate jam) in support of this project please contact info@skateistan.org for Skateistan's fundraising package. We appreciate your support in giving the kids in Kabul an outdoor learning space.
